About
In 1852 the Studebaker brothers started building horse drawn wagons and buggies as our nation started it’s migration west. The carriages were used by Presidents. The company started the transition from horse drawn vehicles to automobiles in 1902 building electric cars. By 1915 Studebaker turned out 45,000 cars. Studebaker was the only wagon maker that successfully made the change from wagons to automobiles.
Design and style have always been Studebaker’s strong points. The first which turned the automotive world on it’s ear was the revolutionary 1950-51 “Bullet Nose.” This model helped propel Studebaker to it’s best sales year ever. Studebaker celebrated it’s 100th Anniversary in 1952, but the design of the 1953 models stunned the automotive world. Studebaker in 1963 brought out the stunning Avanti.
The purpose of the Studebaker Driver’s Club is to honor the Studebaker Automobile and all related Studebaker products. The Southern Arizona Chapter is one of 100 chartered chapters around the world. We conduct events throughout the year and we are an excellent resource for your Studebaker cars and trucks.
